My name is Marta Oliveira, and I’m from Montijo, Portugal.

I’ve always had a deep passion for animals, and it’s with them that I feel most at ease. It was only natural that my professional career would be connected to them in some way.

I started working in the veterinary field in 2003, and the following year, I began studying Veterinary Nursingat the Escola Superior Agrária de Viseu. I was one of the first people in Portugal to graduate in Veterinary Nursing, completing my degree in 2008.

I worked in several veterinary clinics and hospitals in Portugal for nearly 10 years before deciding to move to London, where I spent 5 years working at a clinic in Chelsea.

Over the 15 years I worked in veterinary clinics and hospitals, I specialised in surgical nursing, emergency care, and intensive care.

However, in 2018, I decided to leave clinical work because I increasingly felt that the nursing practices and nutritional advice, we were offering to pet owners weren’t truly helping our patients and no longer aligned with my knowledge or beliefs. The reality is that despite the growing availability of veterinary care and so-called “premium” pet foods, our pets are suffering more and more from chronic diseases, and their lifespans are shortening.

On a personal level, after exhausting all the possibilities offered by conventional veterinary medicine, I continued to watch my cat, Shakti, deteriorate day by day. She had suffered from IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) since she was 3 years old, and the frustration and helplessness I felt from being unable to help her led me to seek other solutions. This painful journey led me to discover Integrative Veterinary Medicine and delve deeply into Natural Nutrition. With the help of this holistic approach, Shakti began to improve, and today, I can say that she is clinically cured. Despite being 15 years old, she has tremendous energy and enjoys an excellent quality of life.

In 2021, my dog George, a Whippet, joined our family. Since then, I’ve also dedicated myself to an in-depth study of animal nutrition, Natural Feeding, and how to help our pets live more natural and healthy lives.

Currently, our furry family also includes a senior cat named Pufic and the newest addition, Kimi, who arrived in 2023 to bring joy to our home—a Whippet, just like George.
